Borneo, the third largest island with three countries in it is worth visit for your vacations. Borneo Vacations
West Kalimantan – It is rich in a variety of minerals and precious stones, and remains largely unexplored. Coastal areas are mainly swamp lands with more than 100 rivers sculpting the flat plains. In the mountainous eastern parts of the province, away from the city and plains, there are many Dayak villages. People often just transit here on their travel from Java to Sarawak; in fact West Kalimantan has more and better longhouses and national parks than any other province, palaces of many historical Malay sultanates to visit for your Borneo vacations. This province has the liveliest Chinese culture in all Indonesia, and also the most extensive road-system in Kalimantan which makes getting around relatively easy.

Central Kalimantan - Tanjung Puting National Park is the main tourists' attraction you can find here. The park is the home of orangutans and other primates. But you can also learn Dayak culture here. This is the only province where traditional religion is still followed by many. The funerary rites of the local Dayak groups ensure there are plenty of tiweh fesitvals and unique wooden mausoleums and other carvings to marvel at for your cultural Borneo vacations.

Borneo Vacations
South Kalimantan – It is the smallest province of Kalimantan with Banjarmasin as the capital city. You can see an amazing river scene with stilt houses and the best floating market in Banjarmasin. There is more river-life to experience upstream and trekking possibilities in the Meratus Mountains. You can also visit Kembang Island in the Barito River, not far from the floating market. This island is a conservation forest of about 60 hectares, inhabited by tame monkeys of Kalimantan species only.

East Kalimantan - The most common starting points for your Borneo vacations journeys and adventures inland are Balikpapan and Samarinda, the provincial capital. You can find Saamarinda botanical garden here. One of the specialties in this botanical garden is the existence of a wide zoo. In the zoo, there are amount of orangutans which are released intentionally, but they are already tame, so visitors can interact directly. Other animals live there are a couple of cobras, hornbills, cockatoos, horses, paradise birds, crocodiles, mouse deers, and porcupines. But, visitors have to climb the hill stairs which are pretty high. Kutai National Park also offers natural tourism for your Borneo vacations such as wildlife observation and cave tourism.
